We received this TV yesterday. While we are happy with the TV, we were very disappointed with the delivery service. The tracking said the TV would be delivered by Pilot, but a different company called us to confirm the delivery date/time. We were given a 6-hr window (10am-4pm) and when it approached 3:45, we called Pilot, who called their subcontractor, Forward Air, and were told it would be delivered ‘within the hour.’ A totally different subcontractor called (sub-subcontractor?) to say they would be late. Finally at almost 5pm, they showed up with the TV. Totally in a rush, they took it out but installed it incorrectly. We had to spend two hours later that night to get it to work correctly. If I were to do it a second time, I would buy *this* TV locally, NOT from Amazon.

I am highly impressed with the quality of this TV. Bit disappointed that it did not come with a HDMI cable. Vender’s Web page said it would ship with a free BlueRay player, but after a month I still have not received the player.

I have always been happy with Samsung’s TV. In fact, I have bought 4 from Amazon. Two for myself, one for my friend, and one for my parents. So no complaints there at all. I am a happy user of Samsung TV.

It’s Amazon’s pricing that I am not happy with. I bought my second TV, Samsung LN46B650, around 6 months ago. Three weeks later, the price was lower by $150. Amazon refused to do anything about it — they used to refund the difference for the price difference within a month. Strick 1.

More recently, I bought a Samsung LN52B630 for $1589. Within 2 days, I found the same items at Fry’s Electronic for $1299 and lower by $90 on Amazon website itself. When I sent mail to Amazon, I received a not-so-friendly email from its customer service department, saying that they will make a “one-time exception” to “graceously refund the $90″ difference (they used to apologize for the overprice and refund the difference right away a while ago). The item has dropped further in price since I bought it 2-3 weeks ago. So effectively, when I received the TV a week ago, I had overpaid for it by at least $200. The same item is now much cheaper in price in most Electronics stores in San Jose and Los Angeles. I used to be a very happy customer of Amazon. Not anymore.

So the next time you shop at Amazon, be careful of this change of refund policy and compare prices first before buying it at Amazon. Don’t automatically assume that Amazon will be a decent shop and they will refund the difference within a recent period of time if there is any overpricing of the item.

This is a good TV with high quality picture & easy to use remote. If you have cable or satellite it is fine, but it is quite horrible if you get your picture from an antenna.

The problem is with the auto program. It does not let you go to channels it cannot find, and only a complete auto scan can be done. This means that if you have to point the antenna in different directions for different channels, you have to redo the entire auto program to switch between the channels.

As an example, suppose channel 51 only comes in when the antenna is pointed west, and channel 68 only when the antenna is pointed north. If I point the antenna west and autoscan, I can watch 51 but 68 is missing. If I want to watch 68, I have to turn the antenna north and then redo the autoscan. Now 68 is fine, but to go back to 51 the antenna has to go back to west and the autoscan must be done yet again. This is a real pain because the autoscan has to be redone every single time the channel is switched from 68 to 51 or back.

The signal strength indicator is pretty bad also, deeply buried in the menus so that it takes a long time to go from channel to channel and optimize the antenna position for the best collection of channels. Still, it is usable.

Some TVs I’ve seen have an “Update” in addition to full auto-scan. This just adds channels instead of wiping out the old list. That would fix this problem.
